Graffiti Supports BlogML Out of the Box

Graffiti CMS A short while ago we migrated BlogML official site from Community Server to a new Telligent product, Graffiti, which is an ASP.NET powered CMS that targets simplicity to enable online content publishing in a great way.

Since we migrated the site to the first public Beta version, Telligent developers have been working on the product to release the second Beta and now Beta 2 is out.

The good news about Beta 2 is including a built-in migrator tool that supports some source blogging engines including Community Server 2007, WordPress and of course, our open BlogML format.

Jayme Davis, the developer behind this migrator tool, has been working on the tool for a while and some people could use its private versions for migrating from Community Server to Graffiti but now it's officially a part of the product and more interestingly it supports BlogML 2.0 out of the box.

I did a quick test on this feature and it worked very well. Of course, Graffiti doesn't have a built-in support for BlogML exports (that hopefully we will implement for it) but it's good to see that people are looking for BlogML as the easiest way for their migrations. Searching on Graffiti forums and Telligent developer blogs, you can find requests from users to include BlogML support in the product.

Since BlogML can run on Mono and is a cross-platform application and BlogML is also able to run on Mono and we have good collaborations with Telligent, you can expect a better future for BlogML and Telligent products. You already know that one of the best BlogML migration tools is implemented for Community Server by me.

+ Speaking of Graffiti Beta 2, I have to say that I upgraded the BlogML site to a private Beta 2 release a few days ago. I also changed the storage database for the site from Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft Access. One nice point about Graffiti is supporting various databases such as SQL Server (so SQL Express), Access, VistaDB and MySQL.
