BlogML 3.0 Road Map

BlogML 3.0 is supposed to be released at mid-2008 even though this is subject to change as we're going to have 2.5 release before then.

For now we have some plans for 3.0 but will add some new items in the future.

  • Support for post extended attributes - Currently we support extended attributes for blog information and want to extend it to all posts as well.
  • Support for non-author users - Many of blogging tools support non-author users as contributors or site members. We'll add support to export and import such users as well.
  • Redirector tool - Having a redirector tool along BlogML has been one of the main feature requests from us for newer versions from users. Redirector tool helps users redirect their old URLs from old blogging tool to new URLs.
  • MetaBlog tool - MetaBlog APIs have become a common way to publish content to blogs and/or retrieve posts from them that provide much of the common information about a blog. As a generic migrator tool, we want to build a MetaBlog converter tool for BlogML 3.0 to import and export content for all blogs that can't use other available tools.
  • Support for link lists - Link lists (also known as blog rolls) are another feature that will be added to BlogML 3.0.
